More than 335 physicians have privileges to practice at Catawba Valley Medical Center. All major specialties—from primary care to cardiology to neonatalogy—are represented on our medical staff with the majority board certified. New physicians granted privileges are now required to be board certified within five years of the completion of residency/fellowship training. Guidelines for Best Care Physicians serve on the hospital’s Quality Coordinating Council and on departmental committees where new policies and procedures are developed and approved for implementation. Our physicians have been very generous with their time in leading the effort to develop guidelines to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
Teaching Site for Residents through a teaching agreement with Wake Forest University Medical School, Catawba Valley Medical Center serves as a rotation site for residents in OB/GYN. They partner with members of the Medical Staff and, while here, are exposed to the Hickory area and Catawba Valley Medical Center as a potential site to open a practice or join one of the existing ones after graduation.
