Mary Ference-Valenta, DO, FAAP, Shane Summers, MD and Christopher Witke, MD welcome you to their Family Medicine practice. The top priority of these physicians and their staff is helping you and your loved ones prevent illness and maintain physical and emotional well-being by providing medical care and recommending healthy lifestyle choices. Drs. Ference-Valenta, Summers and Witke manage acute and chronic illnesses, treat acute injuries, perform minor office surgeries and, when necessary, refer you to an appropriate specialist. Catawba Valley Urgent Care

  Dr. Mary Ference-Valenta, FAAFP

After receiving her medical degree from The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Ference-Valenta completed an internship at Saint Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio and then her family practice residency at The Toledo Hospital. She is board certified in Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Prior to moving to Hickory, she practiced medicine for twelve years in Kent, Ohio.

 Dr. Shane Summers 

After receiving his medical degree from Ohio State University Medical School, Dr. Summers completed his family practice residency at St. Margaret's Memorial Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and then his family practice residency program at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio. He is board certified in Family Medicine.  He has practiced in the Hickory area since 1994.

After receiving his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School, Dr. Witke completed his family practice residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria at Methodist Medical Center.  He is board certified in Family Medicine.  Prior to joining the group in 2009, he practiced in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin for 6 years. Licensed by the State of North Carolina Board of Medicine, he is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  He is NCQA certified in Diabetes Care, Cardiovascular and Stroke Care.
