CVMC Announces 2007 Officers & Trustees

Catawba Valley Medical Center Announces 2007 Board Officers, Two New Trustees

HICKORY--Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) recently announced the addition of Alan Forshey, M.D. and Raymond von Drehle to its Board of Trustees, according to J. Anthony Rose, president and CEO of the medical center. "We are very pleased that these community leaders will lend their leadership and expertise as board members as Catawba Valley Medical Center continues to serve area citizens with quality healthcare," said Rose.

Dr. Forshey practices with Newton Family Physicians in Newton. Affiliated with CVMC since 1982, Dr. Forshey served as the medical center's Chief of Staff in 2003. After receiving his medical degree from Ohio State University in Columbus, Dr. Forshey completed his residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital, also in Columbus. He and wife Barb are the parents of three sons and one grandson. "I'm honored to be asked to join the Board of Trustees," said Dr. Forshey. "I have been on active staff for 25 years and I continue to enjoy my association with Catawba Valley Medical Center!"

Von Drehle
Von Drehle, Chairman of von Drehle Corporation, worked for Broyhill Furniture from 1976 to 1981 as sales representative, sales manager and national accounts sales manager before joining von Drehle Corporation in 1981. In addition to his time given to CVMC, von Drehle is an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Board of Directors for Piedmont Council Boy Scouts of America and the Catawba Science Center as well as BB&T.; He and wife Ronnie, married 24 years, have three sons.

"I, too, feel honored to be asked to join the Catawba Valley Medical Center Board," shared von Drehle. "CVMC plays a major role in the community, not only in providing quality medical services, but also in its support of many other area organizations."

Officers for the 2007 Catawba Valley Medical Center's Board of Trustees are:

  • Clement Geitner, retired banker and President of Hickory Leather Co., Inc. and Fine Furniture, Inc., Chairman
  • Billy L. Price, Jr., M.D., Catawba Valley Internal Medicine, Vice-Chairman
  • Jearld Leonhardt, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CommScope, Secretary
  • Ronald H. Lindler, BB&T; Senior Vice President and Area Executive, Treasurer.
Catawba Valley Medical Center, located in Hickory, NC, is a not-for-profit, public healthcare system providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health education, wellness services, preventative medicine and acute care.
