CVMC’s Fitness Plus Adds “Expecting Wellness”
Program for Mothers-To-Be
Catawba Valley Medical Center’s Fitness Plus recently added a new exercise program designed especially for expecting mothers entitled “Expecting Wellness.” Structured around the guidelines established for prenatal exercise by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Expecting Wellness is a pre- and postnatal exercise program to help women maintain or improve their cardiovascular fitness while increasing strength, flexibility and posture. The program, offered two times each week, includes a variety of safe and effective exercises including aerobics, yoga, water classes, cycling and walking. Each class will conclude with a relaxation session.
Held on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. and Thursday afternoons at 4:30 p.m., the Expecting Wellness classes will meet in the Wellness Classroom in the Health Promotions building on the CVMC campus. Fitness Plus members may attend classes at no charge. There is a $20 fee per month for nonmembers. Students should wear comfortable, layered clothing and should bring a bottle of water to class. Mats, straps and towels are provided. A signed caregiver’s approval is required to participate.
Call Fitness Plus at (828) 326-3680 for more information or to register for classes.
