A diagnosis of cancer can be a life-altering experience. Some normal reactions may include anger, depression, guilt and feelings of hopelessness. One’s sense of identity and purpose for being can be altered. Exploring these issues can help individuals find meaning through the cancer experience. As dramatic as cancer may be, many cancer survivors discover more profound relationships and realizations.
Anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer and would like to share or hear others’ stories of the journey, Catawba Valley Medical Center (CMVC) will offer a program on “Finding Meaning through the Cancer Experience” on Tuesday, June 5 and again on Tuesday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the medical center’s Diabetes Classroom in the Fairgrove Professional Building. Rev. Cindy Jordan, Peggy Messick, RN, and Brenda Putnam, a cancer survivor, will facilitate this experience.
For more information, contact Ms. Messick at 828-326-3127.
