“Cholesterol: Know Your Numbers” Thur, Aug 9th August 3, 2007 Health First Center Offers Cholesterol Screening, Sessions on Understanding Cholesterol Numbers

Catawba Valley Medical Center’s Health First Center in Valley Hills Mall is offering to the public two education sessions on cholesterol levels as well as a cholesterol screening in August. On Thursday, Aug. 9 at 10:15 a.m., “Cholesterol: Know Your Numbers” will be offered. Taught by Julie Collins, RN, attendees will learn what cholesterol numbers indicate and the ways to improve those cholesterol levels. Risk factors, healthy eating and regular exercise to improve overall health will be discussed. Pre-registration is required by calling the Health First Center at 828-485-2300. On Thursday, Aug. 16 from 7 to 8:45 a.m., a “Heart to Heart Cholesterol Screening” will be held at the Health First Center. No appointment is needed. Participants must be fasting for at least eight hours prior to screening. Cost for the screening is $20 for members of the general public; cost for Catawba Seniority Members is $15. Cash or check to CVMC. Also on Thursday, Aug. 16, the education session “Cholesterol: Know Your Numbers” will be offered at 6 p.m. Pre-registration is required by calling the Health First Center at 828-485-2300. The education sessions are free.
