CVMC Nominates 15

CVMC Nominates 15 For State Nursing Excellence Institute

Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) has nominated 15 nurses to attend the 2007 Institute for Nursing Excellence offered by the North Carolina Center for Nursing, according to Ginger Biggerstaff, director of CVMC's Organizational Learning department.

To be held May 14 through 18 at Montreat Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC, the Institute allows outstanding nurses to experience a week of professional development and discussions on the art of nursing, lifelong learning, teamwork and leadership.

Qualifications for nominees include being a registered nurse working full-time in our state with five or more years experience and providing direct nursing care at least 50% of their work time. Nurses may be nominated by a patient, a colleague, a supervisor or self-nominated.

CVMC's nominees are Barbara Barnette, Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN); Angela Danner, RN, Associate Degree Nursing (ADN); Belinda Davis, RN, BSN; Kim Davis, RN, BSN, Registered Nurse Certified (RNC); Chuck Hill, RN, ADN; Christy Hoke, RN, BSN, Board Certified (BC); Roger Ison, RN, ADN; Nancy Johnson, RN, BSN; Sharon Kubisch, RN, ADN, Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR); Vickie Marlowe, RN, BSN, Certified PeriAnesthesia Nurse (CPAN); Lita Miller, RN, ADN; Misty Oxentine, RN, ADN, Certified Ambulatory PeriAnesthesia (CAPA); Monique Robinson, RN, ADN; Gail Settlemyre, RN, BSN, CPAN and Sabrina Williams, RN, ADN, Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN).

Catawba Valley Medical Center is a not-for-profit, public healthcare system providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health education, wellness services, preventative medicine and acute care.
