Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC), in cooperation with City of Hickory Parks & Recreation, co-sponsors the annual Ridgeview Community Health Fair at Ridgeview Recreation Center on Saturday, June 24 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
Promoting health and wellness, CVMC will offer several free health screenings. Scheduled screenings include blood pressure checks, glucose (blood sugar) tests and prostate blood tests. Cholesterol checks will be performed between 8 and 10 a.m. for those who wish to fast 8 to 12 hours before attending the event.
Attendees will also find displays, information and CVMC experts from the areas of the Center for Diabetes Control, Women's Health and Comprehensive Cancer Center. CVMC staff will also be on hand to offer information on heart disease and stroke.
Catawba Valley Medical Center is a not-for-profit, public healthcare system providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health education, wellness services, preventative medicine and acute care.
