Catawba Valley Medical Center’s (CVMC) Health First Center in Valley Hills Mall will offer a stroke risk analysis class and stroke risk analysis screening on Wednesday, May 23. From 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 to 4 p.m., the public is invited to attend a screening for Stroke Risk Analysis. Participants will receive the no-charge analysis as well as learn about personal risk factors for stroke and how to reduce them. Attendees are requested to bring a most recent copy of cholesterol levels if possible. No appointment is needed to attend this screening.
Also on Wednesday, May 23, the Health First Center will host a class at 12 noon on “Stroke, from Prevention to Rehabilitation: Lunch and Learn.” Join Dr. Carmen Espiritu as she discusses rehabilitation techniques used for the treatment of stroke, prognostic indicators for stroke outcome, prevention of stroke recurrence and life after stroke for both patients and their families. Jessica Cain, PA, of Neurology Associates, will also be on hand to discuss risk factors for stroke and how to reduce risk.
