Catawba Valley Medical Center’s New Medical Building Opens in Taylorsville
Family Medicine Associates, a service of Catawba Valley Medical Center, recently moved into a new facility at 50 Macedonia Church Road in Taylorsville, according to Gene Krumanocker, Director of Catawba Valley Medical Group. The medical practice was formerly located at 107 2nd Ave., SW, Taylorsville.
Dr. Steven C. Merrill of Family Medicine Associates is a medical graduate of Ohio State University and completed residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Dr. Steven Sanderson, formerly of Hiddenite Medical Center, has recently relocated to Family Medicine Associates. Sanderson, a medical graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completed his residency and internship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. He is accepting new patients.
David Zahm, certified physician assistant at Family Medicine Associates, is a graduate of Albany Medical College. He is accepting new patients.
Family Medicine Associates provides improved, more convenient patient care services with an on-site laboratory and x-ray services. The practice offers pediatric care, geriatric care, treatment for respiratory conditions, school physicals, adult yearly physicals and electrocardiograms. Special procedures available are minor office surgeries, office orthopaedics and gynecologic care including colposcopy. Also relocating to the new Family Medicine Associates location is Catawba Valley Medical Center’s Occupational Health Center of Taylorsville, formerly located at 323 3rd Street, SW. The Occupational Health Center offers physical exams, drug screening, work-related injuries, breath alcohol testing, on-site bloodborne pathogens, CPR classes and screening, hepatitis B injections, health fairs and on-site audiograms. Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists has opened a new office in the new building. Dr. Stephen J. Sladicka is available to treat patients with musculoskeletal problems. He earned his medical degree at the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa. and completed a surgery internship and orthopaedic residency at the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Ga. Physical therapy services will also be offered on-site by Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists to complement recovery of its patients. The practice is accepting new patients at this location and can be reached at 828-635-8430. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
