Catawba Valley Medical Center’s Volunteer Services department is vibrant, active and hoping to welcome new volunteers to their program, according to Betty Long, Director. With a program of 175 members, CVMC’s Volunteer Services is recruiting about 50 new volunteers so it can more fully support the medical center’s expanding programs and services.
“CVMC’s volunteers are an important and integral part of our medical center’s day-to-day activities,” said Ms. Long. “Our volunteers, if paid an average salary for their 29,500 hours of service for the year, donate about $450,000 annually to hospital. And besides the benefit to patients, family members, visitors, staff and the medical center, our volunteers have a lot of fun working together and sharing their time and talents for the good of the community.”
At this time, volunteers are needed to staff the CVMC gift shop on nights and weekends as well as at the front desk and in Day Surgery. Recently added is a new volunteer center, Critical Care Center Guest Relations, requiring volunteer assistance during the week.
