Catawba Valley Medical Center Hires New VP, Strategic Management & Development
Guy J. Guarino, Jr. has joined Catawba Valley Medical Center as Vice President for Strategic Management and Development. In this role, Guarino is responsible for assuring that the medical center’s services are responsive to the needs of area businesses, physicians and the community. Reporting to Guarino are the departments of Business Development, Health Promotions, Medical Staff Development, and Occupational Health.
Guarino was formerly administrative director for Hart Industrial Clinic and most recently, senior associate for Petra International, specializing in leadership development training. Guarino has been actively involved in community service, including serving as Assistant District Governor for Rotary International, President of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Co-chairman of the Catawba Valley UNC Educational Foundation and five-time chairman of the Duck’s Unlimited Northwest Chapter.
Guarino holds a BA in History from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University. He is married to Veronica Guarino, a local attorney, and they have three children, Nick, 8; Carrie, 6; and Jess, 4.

Catawba Valley Medical Center is a not-for-profit healthcare system providing and promoting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of the public in addition to serving as a center for health education, wellness services, preventative medicine and acute care. It was recently designated as the thirty-second Magnet facility in the nation and the second in the Carolinas.
