Community Programs
CVMC's Spiritual Care department offers several programs to the community including:
Conversation in Ethics--Healthcare professionals and the community are invited to attend monthly sessions of 'Conversations in Ethics.' This monthly, no-charge meeting provides an opportunity for discussion of some of the most important issues facing the healthcare profession today. Sessions are generally held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on the third Thursday each month in the Northwest AHEC Lecture Hall, Room 112. Completion of this activity provides 1.2 contact hours of continuing nursing education via CVMC, Department of Organizational Learning, an approved provider of continuing education by the NCNA, an accredited approver by the ANCC-COA. For more information or to reserve the no-charge lunch that is included in the event, please call 828-326-3365.
Labyrinth-In 2002, the Catawba Medical Foundation funded the purchase of a 36-foot portable canvas labyrinth. Often a tool for prayer or meditation, walking a labyrinth invites the participant to explore the mind. It can be an invitation for Divine Wisdom to guide or to comfort. Or it can simply be a way to let go of stress, worries or concerns and find some peace and perhaps some direction. Labyrinths are found in churches, at hospitals, retreat centers, parks and private residences. Our labyrinth is available to our community.
Other programs provided by CVMC's Spiritual Care to area groups include
