CVMC recently received national recognition from Premier, Inc. and WomenCertified, both healthcare advocacy organizations. In June CVMC received Premier’s QUEST Award for High-value Healthcare and in August, the hospital received a second consecutive Women’s Choice Award  for being voted one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience.

The America’s 100 Best Hospitals scoring process is unique in that it is the ONLY national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction. QUEST is a performance improvement collaborative of approximately 350 hospitals working to make healthcare safer, more efficient and consistently effective. CVMC received the award for achieving top performance in all six of the areas measured in Premier’s QUEST collaborative, including harm, mortality, readmissions, costs, patient experience and evidence-based care. CVMC was specifically recognized for performance improvement in the following areas:

  • Delivering high-quality, cost-effective healthcare
  • Obtaining a mortality rate at least 15 percent less than expected
  • Reducing the average cost of care to less than $5,690 per discharge
  • Reliably delivering all evidence-based care measures to patients in the areas of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care at least 95 percent of the time
  • Improving the hospital experience so that patients favorably rate their stay and would recommend the facility to others at least 73 percent of the time
  • Reducing preventable harm events
  • Obtaining a readmissions rate at least 11 percent less than expected

“When patients have a highly engaged, positive experience with their hospital, it’s a win-win situation,”said Eddie Beard, DNP, RN, NEA-BCCNO/COO of CVMC. “On behalf of the entire medical staff, we are honored to receive such prestigious recognition for our diligent focus on improved patient experience and achieving the best health outcome for every CVMC patient.”
