On May 7, 2001 Catawba Valley Medical Center achieved a significant milestone-Magnet Hospital designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Only 2% of hospitals nationwide receive the prestigious Magnet award...even fewer achieve a second one. CVMC achieved Magnet status again in 2005 - the gold award in patient care. The Magnet Hospital designation recognizes health care organizations that can demonstrate sustained excellence in patient care. The program was created in 1994 to recognize those facilities that represent the very best in nursing care, and to uphold the tradition that supports professional nursing practice.
"Locate the nearest Magnet. If you can easily check into a Magnet hospital, you'd be foolish not to." --Readers Digest, September 2003
In addition to our Magnet status, Catawba Valley Medical Center is the first cancer center in the region to achieve the Comprehensive Cancer Center designation.
What does this mean to you? The magnet status has an impact on every department. This certification is a testimony to the entire CVMC team and the way it works together. A Magnet Hospital is one that top health care professionals will want to be a part of.
