Overview
The Center for Pain Management provides a multidisciplinary approach to pain management through specialized programs, evaluation, and the development of individualized treatment plans.  These include medication management, psychological treatment, physical therapy, home exercise programs, biofeedback, anesthesiology, occupational therapy, smoking cessation, and acupuncture – all designed to help patients manage pain in the most effective and functional ways possible.

Our multidisciplinary team includes a physiatrist, psychologist, anesthesiologist, physical therapist, patient care coordinator, practice coordinator, and an administrative assistant.  We also tap into the wide array of services available from Catawba Valley Medical Center to supplement treatment plans as needed.

Services

The primary goals of the Center for Pain Management include the following:

• Increase your physical activities, endurance, and functioning by engaging in activities prescribed by the treatment team.
• Reduce your dependence upon medications
• Assist you in taking charge and responsibility for your physical well being
• Facilitate your becoming less dependent on health care systems and to improve your self care

Educational programs may also become part of a patient’s individualized plan.  These may include meditation education, yoga, lifestyle classes, support groups, body mechanics, and relaxation techniques.
