At Catawba Valley Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics, healing wounds is all we do. Our specialists have undergone state-of-the-art training by nationally recognized wound care experts. Our team of specialists is expert at using whatever therapy is deemed appropriate and stays at the leading edge of wound healing solutions.
Our partner, National Healing, has developed a Clinical Pathway which guides treatment protocols relying on evidence-based medicine, experience, dedicated research and review of best practice. The pathway is comprehensive, yet flexible, recognizing the individuality of each patient and physician. It reflects the most current diagnostic tests, technologies and treatments available today. With research and clinical trialing of new products and modalities exploding, National Healing is able to benefit from treating thousands of wound patients across the country, and then sharing valuable outcomes and information among its Wound Healing Center physicians and clinicians. The Clinical Pathway incorporates the biochemical and cellular levels of healing into its framework to promote effective results. Designed by clinicians who are experts in the field, the pathway reflects a practical approach to wound care, while at the same time offering progressive treatment options to physicians and patients. Wound outcomes can then be monitored and measured against thousands of other successful patient results. The Catawba Valley Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics is a multi-disciplinary physician-driven program. Our physicians include surgeons, emergency physicians, and podiatrists. This approach provides our patients with a broad spectrum of medical expertise. Our entire medical staff has also attended and passed an extensive wound and hyperbaric oxygen certification program. If you have any of the conditions listed below, we can help you.
Adjunct Therapies Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Hyperbaric medicine (HBO), an adjunctive therapy used to enhance the healing of certain problem wounds, is available at Catawba Valley Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics. Delivery of this therapy involves a patient to breathe 100% oxygen while inside a pressurized chamber. This therapy stimulates a number of physiological responses in the cells and tissues, promoting wound healing. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is prescribed by our trained physicians, and the costs are reimbursable through Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurers. The hyperbaric chambers used within our hospital wound center network are installed and managed by our team of trained technicians. Indications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment
Bio-Engineered Skin Substitutes
Tissue of human origin or bio-engineered tissue used to support wound closure and serve as a replacement for skin and surgical grafting. A bio-engineered skin substitute closely resembles human skin in structure, function and handling, and may provide both epidermal and dermal components. Growth Factor Therapy Research has determined that proteins which occur naturally in the body are integral in stimulating cell growth and migration, necessary for wound healing. These growth factors (proteins) are manufactured through recombinant DNA technology and applied to the wound as a daily topical treatment, in combination with comprehensive wound management. Negative Pressure Therapy A non-invasive therapy that uses controlled localized negative pressure to stimulate the growth of healthy granulation tissue. This occurs through the removal of wound fluid, which helps to manage bacterial bioburden, and well as support a moist wound environment to enhance cell migration and epithelialization. Medical Staff
