When Dr. Frank W. Jones agreed to sell Catawba General Hospital in Newton, the construction of Catawba Valley Medical Center (then named Catawba Memorial Hospital) was able to proceed.  When Catawba Memorial opened in 1967, he became the first chief of the medical staff.

The Heritage Society named in his honor provides the opportunity to make posthumous estate contributions to the Catawba Medical Foundation’s general giving fund.  It enables patrons to contribute to Catawba Valley Medical Center without impacting the assets that may be needed throughout their lifetime.  Since bequests to charities are tax-deductible, the Heritage program can also help significantly reduce or eliminate the estate taxes that otherwise would have to be paid by heirs.
