Exercise Class Descriptions
(All classes are 45 minutes unless otherwise stated)
Beginner Level Classes:
Balance Basics – Is balance a concern for you? This class addresses the need for stronger muscles, increased flexibility, and a solid core in an effort to reduce the risk of falls. Improve your posture and balance, and take charge of your independence!
Chair Yoga – This is a great class for people who have a hard time getting up and down off of the floor. The poses are modified so that they can be performed while seated in a chair. People who cannot stand or have limited mobility can now enjoy the benefits of yoga.
SilverSneakers® Classic – Have fun and move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Yoga Stretch – This beginner class is for those who are new to yoga or for those who are looking for a less challenging class due to limited mobility. Participants will be on the floor during part of the class. The class specifically targets flexibility, balance, and stress relief.
Intermediate Level Classes:
Core and More – A 30-minute strength training class with a concentration on the core muscles. This class uses a variety of props, as well as Pilates and Yoga moves.
SilverSneakers® Circuit – Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball is alternated with low-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is used for standing support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
Yoga Core – This class takes traditional yoga and incorporates a variety of props, such as stability balls and body bars to achieve additional exercise benefits. Participants will benefit from increased flexibility, a stronger core, and lowered stress levels. This class can be adapted for all levels of experience and ability.
Yoga Align – This class incorporates toning and building strength by holding poses and emphasizing proper body alignment. This class is great for those who have experience in yoga postures and desire a challenge in their yoga practice.
Ab Blast – (10 min) Abs, abs, and more ABS! 10 minutes, No Excuses!
Pilates – A complete focus on your powerhouse: abs, glutes, hips, lower back, as well as upper back & inner thighs. Develop a strong core, improve flexibility and build strength. Reduce stress.
Advanced Level Classes:
Body Burn – This class utilizes various methods to sculpt your body, including circuit training. Learn to use a variety of exercise tools such as, free weights, body bars, stability balls, resistance bands and body weight. You’ll keep your body guessing by varying the intensity of your workout.
Yoga Sculpt – An upbeat, medium-fast flow yoga with an emphasis on building strength and endurance, while toning muscle through deep stretches. Challenge yourself while experiencing the stress-relieving benefits of yoga. All fitness levels welcome.
Zumba® – Try this exciting class with Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness class. An exhilarating 45 minutes of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements!
Boot Camp – (30 min) Non-stop, total body workout! All out drills of speed, power & strength to build lean, fit bodies. We’re working head-to-toe – so check “lazy” at the door and lets get moving!
Tabata – (30-min) High intensity interval training that will torch the calories, increase your metabolic rate as well as your anaerobic capacity which keeps fat burning long after the workout! 20-seconds of heart pumping exercise with 10-second breathers. 30 minutes is all you need!
FREE Heart Smart Nutrition Class – Learn how to eat a well-balanced diet that is low in cholesterol, saturated fat, and sodium, while promoting a healthy weight and lifestyle. Classes offered monthly in the Center for Rehabilitation Conference Room. Contact 326-2400 for registration, class times and additional information.
Additional Fee Based Services:
Personal Training/Small Group Training – When you hire a trainer, you take a step towards better health through fitness. Your Trainer will take you through your personally designed program, providing you with motivation, information and the support you need to reach your goals. Private Swim Lessons – Education and training by an experienced instructor to help infants (age 6 mo. +) up to adults gain swimming skills. Sessions are 30 minutes in length and may include up 3 participants. Learn more.
Medical Massage – We offer on-site, 30-minute sessions every Wednesday. Call 828.322.6979 to schedule an appointment.
